The majority of roads that link the occupied West Bank cities of Ramallah and Nablus would be closed until the noon hours, in order to secure the area for a marathon organized by Israeli settlers.
Official Palestinian Authority (PA)-owned Wafa news agency reported that Israeli forces deployed heavily in the area and closed the main roads linking the central and northern West Bank, preventing Palestinian movement in the area.
Palestinian vehicles were forced to take alternative detours through neighboring villages in order to reach their homes and workplaces, Wafa added.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that they were aware of “operational activity” in th area.
Israeli forces regularly close off Palestinian roads and villages in order to accommodate the nearly 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
