British firm to sink $115mn into Zanjan’s waste management project

Assadollah Darvishi Amiri, Governor of Zanjan Province, has announced that the British Company Global Green Energy will invest 115 million dollars to urban waste recycling in the Iranian province.
Addressing a meeting with foreign investors and businessmen on Sunday, the official appreciated steps taken by the Global Green Energy Company to foster the technology of waste management all around the world.
“Issues faced by Zanjan province in the field of urban waste will be fully tackled upon arrival of the British firm,” he underlined.
Darvishi Amiri went on to underscore that establishment of a recycling factory will mark both a significant breakthrough in waste management and a positive measure in preserving the environment.
He said the agreement was signed in the form of Build–Operate–Transfer (BOT) scheme and would lead to pave the path for injecting as much as 115 million dollars to the Iranian province.
Also at the meeting, Managing Director of the British company Din Pradovich highlighted that Global Green Energy had always sought to find new approaches to recycling all sorts of waste and to upgrade related technologies.
“As part of the project defined for Zanjan city, waste will be first turned into fuels and later into electric energy,” he declared.
Pradovich, whilre pointing to economic profitability of investments in Zanjan, the official insisted that hire local workforce and take steps to protect the nature.
The plant in Zanjan will be the country’s first ever experience in the area of producing electricity from urban waste.
A total of 300 tons of waste are produced in Zanjan on a daily basis.
