PSG are reportedly willing to pay the £198 million (€222 million) release clause in Neymar’s contract and it has been suggested that the move could be finalised this week.
Iniesta believes that the only way that the situation can be resolved is by Neymar providing some clarity on matters.
“We want him to stay with us, but we also want this noise to be cleared up, whether it is for the player himself or for the club. Restoring the peace would be to everyone’s benefit.”
Iniesta stressed that he hopes Neymar remains at the club for a long time.
He said: “[Neymar] is one of the best players in the world and he is giving us so much. I hope he will be at Barca for a long time, it is my only wish.
“I cannot see how €200 or €300 million would benefit the team more than having him. I want the best in my team and he is one of the best.”
Neymar has made a major impact during his time at Barcelona and has won an array of trophies, including two La Liga titles, the Champions League and three Copa Del Reys.
However, the evidence suggests that most of Neymar’s best performances for Barcelona came during his first couple of seasons, although he did show some signs of improvement last campaign with regards to the proportion of attempted take-ons that he completed.
