Palestinian Border Control department in Gaza stated on Saturday that they don’t have any information about the opening of Rafah Crossing, which has been closed for five months.
Hisham Adwan, director of public relations and information at the border control department, said: “The Egyptian authority is still conducting maintenance and expansion works on their side of the crossing. we hope that they will finish in the near future and open the crossing to end the misery of the people stranded on both sides”.
He added: “the Border Control department have not been informed of the official opening of the Rafah crossing for the disabled and humanitarian cases.”
Adwan said the Palestinian side at the Rafah crossing is fully prepared and ready to operate as soon as the Egyptian side opens.
Furthermore, he revealed that the crossing will be opened on next Monday for the departure of the first group of pilgrims, where it will remain open for four days, and will also be opened for the departure of the honorary pilgrims, gifted by the Saudi monarch to the families of martyrs on 27 August.
