Palestinian delegation that included Hamas, pro-Dahlan Fatah, and Palestinian factions heading to Cairo to discuss the ease of the Gaza Strip blockade
a Palestinian delegation that included Hamas movement, pro-Dahlan stream [expelled MP of PLO], Palestinian factions headed to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Friday in order to discuss the ease of the siege struck on Gaza strip.
A member of the delegation, who asked not to be named, said in a press statement that the delegation had left Gaza via the Rafah crossing, which was reopened for the delegation only. The delegation includes 18 people, 7 leaders who form the Development and Social Solidarity Committee ( that was formed recently between Hamas and Dahlan) in which representatives of all factions, except for the pro-Abbas Fatah movement.
The most prominent members of the delegation, according to the same unnamed source, were Rawhi Mushtah, Salah al-Bardawil, member of Hamas’s political bureau, Hamas leader Ismail al-Ashqar, Khaled al-Batsh, leader of the Islamic Jihad movement, and Majed Abu Shammala and Ashraf Jumaa, (Pro-Dahlan Stream) and Issam Abu Daqqa from the Democratic Front for the liberation of Palestine.
The source added, the Palestinian delegation will hold several meetings with officials in Cairo, especially from the Egyptian General Intelligence, to discuss the possible ways of easing the siege imposed on Gaza Strip and the catastrophic electricity crisis in the enclave, in addition to activating the committees agreed upon in the understandings between Hamas and Dahlan.
According to the source, New mechanism will be discussed to be use in re-opening Rafah crossing, that will alleviate the miseries of the Palestinian people. He said that this step is expected to take place in early September.
