Vodafone Qatar has helped to raise more than QR500,000 for Qatar Charity’s work to build a community centre in Mali.
Vodafone Qatar’s employees Ali Al Qahtani, Fahad Al Sayed and Mohammed Al Yafei were instrumental in raising these funds via their participation in Qatar Charity’s volunteering initiative, Al Mutanafisoon (The Competitors).
Now in its second edition, the competition asks two teams from different organisations to compete to raise the most funds by promoting Qatar Charity’s humanitarian work on Qatar Radio. The competing teams then travel to the country where the raised funds will be used to further encourage members of the public to donate.
There, the competitors are able to capture the benefits of the selected charitable project and post their experiences on social media.
Mohammed Al Yami, External Affairs Director, Vodafone Qatar, said, “We’re honoured to have contributed to raising funds for Qatar Charity’s noble humanitarian work. We’re also very proud of our exemplary Qatari employees who passionately campaigned to ensure enough funds would be raised to build the community centre in Mali.
“As a company, we are in a unique position to have so many amazing employees that everyday reflect the Vodafone spirit. Empowering employees to do good and supporting charity initiatives is one of our core beliefs at Vodafone and we hope there will be more opportunities in the future for our employees to work with Qatar Charity.”
This comes in a long line of Vodafone employee volunteering under the Company’s employee volunteering programme “Kafu”. Vodafone globally encourages its employees to volunteer by giving them fully paid leave on the days they conduct charitable work.
