A Quranic sciences center for women was launched by the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (A) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, on May 10.

According to the website of the Astan, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalai, the custodian of the holy shrine, said in the opening ceremony of the new Quranic center, named Zahra (S), that women’s participation in Quranic activities, for all their responsibilities at home and their social activities, shows that they also pay attention to religious affairs.

Noting that the purpose of learning the Quran and religious injunctions should be clearly explained, he stressed that the purpose is to act upon the Quranic teachings in life.

The director of the Quranic center also addressed the program, saying that the center will hold courses for 240 students aged 15 to 45.

Most of the participants in the courses will be from different provinces of Iraq and there will be some students from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, she added.
